The rulers of England were originally French, from Normany. And the Channel Islands are part of Normandy, that is why they are still the possestions of the British Monarchs. The Arms of England, in fact, the three yellow lions on the the red backround, came from the arms of Normandy.

As much as it’s a late come back, we Brits have more of a claim to French islands, than you do to the Americas. For starts, our population was invaded in 1066 by Frenchmen, who kept control ’till Richard the Lionheart. Despite being French, King John is seen as the first English king after a long line, mainly due to his lack of control over any French lands by the end of his reign.

So judging by your current logic, we should still have control of the USA ;)

    Hi Nikita,

we were fighting over a barrier – a period tournament practice. You do see it at SCA events now and again – especially the more medieval events run by the Tourney Companies.

Can I ask what the fence was all about?

Never saw that at an SCA Event.

This was filmed at a public demo, so there are plenty of modern items in the background such as cars, clothing, etc…….

And the breaking of the Sword/baton over the mans helm was completely real and unplanned.

This was by far the best time I have had in a long time.
